PSP & UMD are the abbreviated forms of PlayStation Portable and Universal Media Disc, respectively. UMD discs are storage mediums, primarily meant for storing PSP games. However, the application can also be used for holding audio-video content like motion pictures and TV shows. Many TV titles like ‘The Office’ are also available on the UMD.
The UMD, engineered by Sony has a large capacity and a single layer UMD can store up to 900 MB of data. But the maximum capacity of a dual layered UMD is 1.80 gigabytes. The UMD was the first optical disc format that was used in a handheld electronic video game console. |
